What Is An Inference Engine?

An inference engine is a component base of the AI system that applies logical rules to come up data analysis and deduce information with ease. The engine takes information from the knowledge base of the system and thus provide valuable insights to boost the business logically.

The Inference engine primarily works in two ways, namely forward chaining and backward chaining. In the forward chaining method, the inference engine starts with study of known facts to deduce the new knowledge and thus update the earlier information available in the knowledge base. In backward chaining, the inference engine starts with the goals and then backtracks towards the piece of information or rule that needs tweaking to achieve the concerned goal. The inference engines typically uses an IF-THEN loop to come up with logical reasons. With the advent of newer technologies and innovation in the AI field, the inference engine has seen modifications for the good. The modifications were mainly to improve robustness and speed of the processes to debug the information in a better way and find the accurate solutions.

Enterra Solutions have an excellent Inference System called Aila, which provides logical inferences using data from multidimensional streams of numerical data. It uses human-like reasoning and thus provide the best inferences possible. The whole cognitive systems use the cognitive reasoning engine and language engine along with Aila to help your company come up with best solutions to improve the functionality of your system.
